Solving the problem of gas prices with a “Gas Tax Holiday” is like solving the problem of unemployment by going on a “Job Holiday”.

And while we’re at it, $4 a gallon gas is pretty cheap if you think about it. I mean, let’s say you you wanted 8 pounds of rocks from half a mile under the ground of Venezuela. First you’ve got to pay some people to dig them up, then you’ve got to get them cleaned and packaged and shipped to America. Don’t forget to pay all the “fees” (i.e. bribes) to corrupt officials along the way. Hundreds of dollars later you’ve got your rocks.

If a gallon of gas is about 8 pounds, $4 for 8 pounds of gasoline s looking like a bargain.

How can Black Swan Chipotle Dressing be so good?

Recently, I can feel satisfied eating just a salad — romaine, tomato, red pepper and maybe some mushrooms or some cheese crumbles — but I simply must have the chipotle dressing. Its spicy enough for me that I can’t put an unhealthy amount of dressing on, and its flavorful enough that I feel like I’m eating a feast.

Or maybe a better question: why are most other salad dressings so uninspiring?

Staffan’s next show is Children of Eden, at Edmonds Homeschool Resource Center May 9 - May 11. There are four shows, two evenings (9th and 10th) and two matinees (10th and 11th). Apparently it is a very good show, with challenging music and a great variety of instruments played on stage. In addition, I’m told it hits the perfect balance of religious content for my taste: it is heretical enough to offend the biblical fundamentalists and true enough to the Genesis story to offend the atheist fundamentalists. Double win!

So I got a Facebook friend invite from someone i don’t think I know at all, and I know none of the friends in her list of friends. Her picture shows her with a young (3-4 year old) child. So I wrote back “Is that my son in the picture?”

Update:  I guess she didn’t quite get the joke.  Oh well.  Apparently Tomo’s friends thought the story was hilarious, though.
